Joanna's Choice: That's not my baby...

Usborne's touchy-feely books for babies are fantastic. The range is always expanding. That's not my meerkat and That's not my dinosaur are two of the favourites here. Eventhough they are recommended for babies (age 6months+) my daughters still love them at ages 3 years and 4 years. For my 4-year-old at the moment books with just a few words on each page give her a chance to pick out letters and the smaller words.

The books are made of tough board and are short and sweet. They are 160mmx160mm and are a solid, thick book. They have insets of felt, corrugated card and other material and the pictures are clear and bright. The story always starts on the front cover.

All of the titles in this series are great but I particularly love the That's not my baby ones. There are two, one for boys and one for girls. I had never seen the baby ones until I received a gift of the girl one and I have to admit I found the title of That's not my baby a little off-putting! But that was short-lived.

The reason the baby ones are my favourites is that they have a mirror on the last page. As with all of the books in this series you read the reasons why the meerkat/dinosaur/tiger/fairy/puppy, etc. in the picture is not yours and then on the last page you identify the one that is yours. In the baby ones the last page identifies the baby you are reading to as your baby because they look in mirror and prove it!

I have received different titles from this series as gifts, I have bought them for my children and as gifts for others and they do not disappoint.
